What Can One Do After 10th Class?

1. General Course-

One can pursue higher secondary education with one of the streams- Arts, Science or Commerce. This two-year course, encompassing 11th and 12th grades not only shapes academic knowledge but also assists in clarifying career aspirations:

Arts-

The major subjects in the Arts stream include Economics, History, Political Science (Polity), Geography, Sociology, Philosophy, Psychology, Computer Science, Hindi, English, Fine Arts, Physical Education, Literature, Regional Language, etc.

Scope: Teaching, Journalism and Mass Communication, Law, Music composition, Art/Painting, Civil service exam, Other competitive exams, etc.

Commerce-

The major subjects in the Commerce stream include Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, English, etc.

Scope: Chartered Accountancy (CA), Company Secretary (CS), Financial Analyst, Cost & Management Accountancy (CMA), Journalism & Mass Communications, Teaching, Law, Banking competitive exams, Other competitive exams, etc.

Science-

The major subjects in the Science stream include Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology, English, etc.

2. Professional Course-

In India, after completing the 10th class, various professional courses are available across different fields. These courses can help you to acquire specialised skills and knowledge for future career prospects. Here are some options you can consider:

Polytechnic Course-

After the 10th, you can pursue a three-year polytechnic diploma. It provides you with practical training and hands-on experience in the fields like Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science and more.

ITI (Industrial Training Institutes) Course-

Industrial Training Institutes offer various trade-based courses like electrician, plumber, mechanic, carpenter and others. These courses provide practical skills in specific trades. ITI courses are typically one or two years long.

Paramedical Course-

There are some paramedical courses that require 10th class. In, Paramedical courses you can learn how to support a doctor or medical team. There are two categories of paramedical courses- certificate courses (duration- 3 months to 1 year) and diploma courses (duration- 1 year to 2 years).
