IndiaSkills Competition 2024

The IndiaSkills Competition 2024, the nation’s largest skill competition showcasing the highest standards of skilling, commenced on May 15, 2024.

The grand commencement of the event took place at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, New Delhi. Spanning four days, this prestigious competition would test 900 candidates across 61 categories.

Organising Body-

The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), organised the competition.

Selection Process-

  • Over 2.5 lakh candidates registered for the competition on the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) Portal.
  • 26,000 candidates were shortlisted through a pre-screening process.
  • The shortlisted data was shared with the states to organise their own state and district-level competitions.
  • Over 900 students were ultimately shortlisted from these regional events for the IndiaSkills National Competition.

More About IndiaSkills Competition 2024-

  • 900 candidates came from more than 30 states and union territories and over 400 industry experts.
  • Among 61 skill competitions, 47 competitions held onsite while 14 held offsite in Karnataka, Haryana, UP and Gujarat.
  • The students also participated in 9 skill-exhibitions such as Drone-Film making, Textile-weaving, Leather-shoemaking and Prosthetics-makeup.
  • The students who participated in the nation-level competition were trained in ITIs, NSTIs, Polytechnics, engineering institutes, nursing institutes and biotechnology institutes. This showcased the international standards of training that Indian youth were receiving within the current skill network.

Importance and Future Prospects-

IndiaSkills winners would receive top-notch training to compete at the WorldSkills competition in Lyon, France (September 2024). This global event unites over 1,500 competitors from 70+ countries.
